The CRES Amateur Radio Club held a meeting over lunch on 19 April 2000. The meeting was called to order by President Jerry Scott/K9RV at 11:40 AM. Those in attendance were: WB9PXH, KE8QN, WD8CZG, KC8LUV, KD8WK, KD8BJ, N8VQU, KD8ZG, KB8DEO, WB7AIZ, K8GZ, K9RV, and KA8ZRT. KE8QN, WD8CZG and KD8WK were congratulated on their recent upgrades to Amateur Extra class. KC8LUV was afforded congratulations on his recent promotion. The Minutes from the last meeting were accepted w/o corrections. The Treasurer reported the club has $1004.25 in Telhio, $23.61 in Petty Cash, $9.51 deposited with the CRES Club, and $70.00 in undeposited dues. Jerry indicated he is still looking for program ideas for future meetings. Art Grandle/KD8ZG and Bill Ludwig/KE8QN indicated 13 people had signed up for our VE Exam session on the 22nd. The VE team will accept walk-ins for up to 35 total applicants. The exams will be held at the Parkview Presbyterian Church, 6969 East Livingston Ave, starting at 9 AM Saturday. VE Team members will meet for breakfast at the Bob Evans at Brice and I-70 at 7:15 AM. (Be aware, that the exit from I-70 West to Brice is closed.) Those VEs not attending breakfast must be at the exam site by 8:45 AM so Art can go over the new control sheet and new rules. All participating VEs are expected to have closely read the recently received VE newsletter from the ARRL. Art reported he has repaired one of the Heath WWV clocks reported broken at the last meeting. He is still diagnosing the other one. Gordy Lashley/WD8CZG reported that the repeater operations have been changed slightly. Now, speed dials only are operational during drive times. Gordy also indicated the off-site CRES-ARC web page has been moved to: http://www.qsl.net/w8zpf The web page on the Lucent intranet is still at: http://eo.cb.lucent.com/radio/w8zpf_wp.htm There was a general discussion on the status of certificates for last year's CQ-WE contest. No one really knew why they had not yet been issued or when they would be forthcoming. Jerry reported Field Day will be June 24-25 this year. With no other takers, he agreed to take the lead in coordinating the event. Questions and comments about the event should be referred to Jerry. Gordy inquired about whether the club should order new QSL cards, since the existing stock still shows an affiliation with AT&T. It was decided to defer this to a future meeting. Bill Ludwig announced he intended to retire this summer, but would still be around the Columbus area for a while and would continue to be the VE contact person. The club wishes Bill well in his well earned retirement. The meeting was adjourned at 12:40 PM. Respectfully submitted, Rob Stampfli/KD8WK CRES-ARC Secretary/Treasurer
