The CRES Amateur Radio Club held a meeting over lunch on 17 May 2000. The meeting was called to order by President Jerry Scott/K9RV at 11:45 AM. Those in attendance were: K9RV, WD8CZG, WB7AIZ, KA8ZRT, KD8WK, WD8EBS, and N8YXK. The minutes from the last meeting were approved after correcting the URL for the CRES ARC external web site. The correct URL is: http://www.qsl.net/w8zpf The Treasurer reported $1004.25 in Telhio, $23.61 in petty cash, $9.51 on deposit with the CRES Club, and $90 in undeposited dues. Jerry reported the April 22 VE Exam session was successfully conducted, and he received several positive comments from the applicants. Those members who upgraded are still awaiting FCC action due to the deluge of activity after the recent rules change. To check on your status in the FCC database, you can use the following URL: http://gullfoss.fcc.gov:8080/cgi-bin/ws.exe/beta/genmen/ uls_call_res.hts?db_id=19&rows=&callsign=KD8WK Of course, replace "KD8WK" with your call sign. The next club-sponsored VE Exams will be held August 5th at the Columbus Hamfest. Jerry reported Art is still working on the second Heathkit WWV clock. The first has been repaired and is back in operation in the club room. Jerry indicated he had contacted the person responsible for issuing CQWE certificates and had received a response which stated he has been very busy. He still has all the paperwork and hopes to get to it this summer. Jerry will send a prototype certificate to him, and may offer to help with the production of the certificates. Field day is June 24 and 25 this year. Jerry is coordinating the event. He requests that interested parties contact him. Gordy Lashley/WD8CZG may set up a SSTV station, and other modes of operating are actively being sought. Jerry reported Bill Woody/WK8H had contacted him to inquire if anyone in the club would be interested in assisting with the Civil Air Patrol. Bill sees lots of opportunities for hams to have fun in the CAP. If interested, contact Bill at 614-575-6614. The next club meeting will be June 21. It will predominantly be a Field Day planning meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 12:15 PM, after which Jerry gave a talk on the elements of a ham radio station. Respectfully submitted, Rob Stampfli/KD8WK CRES-ARC Secretary/Treasurer
