The CRES Amateur Radio Club held a meeting over lunch on Wednesday, 20 June 2001. The meeting was called to order by President Gordy Lashley/WD8CZG at 11:40 AM. Those in attendance were: WD8CZG, KB8DEO, WD8EBS, K8RSP, KC8HIH, K8ON, KD8WK, K8TWH, and NV7X. The minutes from the May meeting were accepted as mailed. The Treasurer reported $928.46 in checking, $23.61 in petty cash, and $40 in undeposited dues. A letter of thanks was sent to Dave Klinect for his talk at the May meeting. Dave Woolf/K8RSP reported he has spent much time investigating and tuning the repeater. The receiver pre-amp appears good (actually better than spec). Dave opened the duplexors and found evidence that water had infiltrated one sometime in the past. The cavities look OK except for some possible plating deterioration. Notch and depth-of- notch OK. Bottom line: No evidence of duplexor problems except for a higher than expected 6db loss on the receive side. There is an intermittent noise problem Dave thinks is related to the transmitter. It is erratic and degrades the input signal 10-15db when present. The transmitter is putting out 60W at the base of the feed line, which is good. Mike Stansbery/WD8EBS reported he has contacted building services and they will contract to have the repeater tower grounded. Mike also has requested the tower be tilted so we can install the new coil on the antenna. Gordy reported eleven people showed up at Universal on the 9th for their show-and-tell: WD8CZG, KB8DEO, WA8LBZ, N4DB, K8RSP, WD8EBS, W8REQ, K8TWH, K8ON, and NV7X. It was reported that people enjoyed the event and the demonstration. K8RSP, NV7X, WD8EBS, and K8ON won door prizes. Dave Woolf reported he had confirmed with Lucent that we can use the back field for Field Day this weekend (June 23-24). He requested the gate on Taylor Station be opened, but there is a possibility Lucent will want to record who attends and will require access via the truck entrance just south of the usual gate. Set up is at 10 AM Saturday, and people may meet for breakfast at Bob Evans at Lancaster and Main at 9 AM. Meet on the repeater to coordinate. The club approved a request by Dave to spend up to $25 to procure better containers for the field day equipment. David Jeffords/K8ON indicated he is planning an offsite meeting in August where people are invited to show off their home-brew equipment. The effect the sale of the plant and the current retirement offer will have on the club was discussed, but no action taken. Dave Woolf reported he had contacted the complaintant regarding an interference problem from our club's packet station, but had not heard back from him. The meeting was adjourned at 12:40 PM. Respectfully submitted, Rob Stampfli/KD8WK CRES-ARC Secretary/Treasurer
