An Executive Committee Meeting of the CRES Amateur Radio Club was held on 28 Aug 2002. The meeting was called to order by President Mike Stansbery/WD8EBS at 7:00 PM. Those present were Mike Stansbery, Mike Rauh/NV7X (VP), Jerry Scott/K9RV (Lab Mgr), Rob Stampfli/KD8WK (Sec/Treas), Art Grandle/KD8ZG (Trustee), and Dave Woolf/K8RSP. WD8EBS and K8RSP reported that they had been approached by another ham claiming that when the CORC 146.76 machine and our W8ZPF repeater were on the air simultaneously, it caused interference to his repeater on 146.55. After some discussion, we concluded that the likely problem was 3rd order products in the complainant's equipment and not spurious problems in ours. Also, the complainant is operating an uncoordinated repeater on a simplex channel. We elected not to take further action at this time. NV7X presented a bill for a van rental for the field day CW station. The Executive Committee voted to reimburse Mike for the van out of Club funds. The committee selected the date of Tuesday, 17 September 2002, for the 3rd Quarter Club meeting. The meeting will be a picnic at Blacklick Park which will commence at 6 PM. The committee elected not to rent a shelter, but to try to acquire one of the open ones. The committee voted to expend not more than $100 for this event. The Club will provide burgers, hotdogs, and soft drinks. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish or appetizer. The Secretary will notify the membership and request a headcount. WD8EBS will purchase the meat items at Sams Club. KD8ZG agreed to go over to the park early to claim a shelter. WD8EBS indicated he had spoken with Dale McIlhargie from the plant, and Dale had indicated the he would provide the paperwork to allow the Club to remove the items in our Club inventory from the premises. (But, he would not permit us to remove the active antennas because, for safety reasons, he did not want us working on the towers.) Mike will contact Dale and set up a date for us to enter the building and retrieve the equipment. The expectation is that all equipment will have to be removed at that time. We expect to need several people to assist in this effort. The sense of the committee is that we will liquidate the equipment of value through sales to Club members or a wider audience once we have possession of it. Initially, only paid members will be allowed to bid on the equipment. The repeater presents a more difficult problem. Our most recent understanding is that there is a likelihood that the part of the building where the repeater is located will be emptied soon and its population relocated. If and when this occurs, we may lose access to the room where the repeater is situated. After much discussion, the committee elected to leave the repeater in place and operating for now, but remains prepared to remove it quickly should the situation deteriorate. The committee asked the Secretary to canvass the membership to see if anyone knew of a potential site where we could relocate the machine to if needed. The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 PM. Respectfully submitted, Rob Stampfli/KD8WK CRES-ARC Secretary/Treasurer
