The CRES Amateur Radio Club held a dinner meeting at Donatos Pizza, Brice Rd and Livingston Ave, in Reynoldsburg, OH, on 12 December 2002. The meeting was called to order by President Mike Stansbery/WD8EBS at 6:55 PM. The following people were in attendance: KD8WK, WA8MWA, KC8TM, K8RSP, N9CX, K8ON, K9RV, KC8HIH, N4DB, KD8ZG, W8RJM, W8REW, NV7X, KD8BJ, K8KJ, W8FMN, and WD8EBS. Mike started the meeting by going through the highlights of a rather busy year for the club, which included opening the club to non-AT&T-affiliated hams, repairing a problem with the club repeater, dismantling the club station, procuring and auctioning the club's equipment, and investigating options for the relocating the repeater. In addition, we had successful field day and CQ-WE events, and held four meetings including a club picnic and holiday dinner meeting, and conducted three VE Exam sessions. Rob Stampfli/KD8WK, gave the Treasurer's report: Telhio savings: $2353.20 Telhio CDs: $2000.00 Petty Cash: $ 129.00 Rob reported that the sale of club equipment netted $3254.00 from 12 bidders. $2000 of this was used to purchase long term CDs at a good rate. The club still has several remaining pieces of equipment from the old hamshack that we no longer need, but which are judged to be valuable, and these will be offered for sale on Ebay or at local hamfests. In addition, Dave Woolf/K8RSP, has researched the value of the many vacuum tubes in the club's possession, and he estimated the value of these at $3126 retail, although it is expected they would wholesale for a lot less, perhaps ten cents on the dollar. We are investigating how to best liquidate this portion of the club's inventory. Mike asked for volunteers to comprise a committee to audit the Treasurer's books, which comes at the request of the Treasurer and Executive Committee. KC8HIH, W8FMN, and N9CX volunteered. The audit will be conducted after the holidays. It was announced that the club trusteeship is in the process of being transitioned from Art Grandle/KD8ZG to Mike Rauh/NV7X. The Station Trustee is appointed by the Executive Board, and holds the club's W8ZPF callsign. Jerry Scott/K9RV gave a report on the recent CQ-WE event. This year we had 14 participants (vs. 16 last year). K8RSP had high score for the club (63,775 points), and Bob Kenyon/K8LJ came in second (53,144 points). The club's total points were recorded as 253,760. In general, these totals were about half of last year's scores, primarily due to poor band conditions. Art Grandle/KD8ZG announced that the club will give a VE Exam session this Saturday, December 14th. Participating VEs should meet at 7:00AM at Bob Evans, Brice Rd, for breakfast, or at 8:45AM at Parkview Presbyterian Church, Livingston Ave, for the exam session, which starts at 9:00AM. Art Grandle motioned and Dave Woolf seconded that the club send a $20 donation to QSL.net (the provider of our official club web site) and a $20 donation to C&J Systems (the provider of our club email lists and secondary web site). Motion passed. Art Gradle motioned that the club expend $5 to renew our membership and repeater coordination with the Ohio Area Repeater Council. Motion passed. The nominations committee reported that they were placing the following names in nomination for the 2003 officer positions: President: David Jeffords/K8ON Vice President: Jack Kirkpatrick/KC8TM Sec/Treasurer: Rob Stampfli/KD8WK Lab Manager: Stu Steenburgh/KB8DEO No names were placed in nomination from the floor. Art Grandle motioned that the slate presented by the nominations committee be accepted by acclamation. Motion passed. Those elected will take office on 1 January 2003. Art commented that it was nice to see such a good turnout. The meeting was adjourned at 7:15PM. After the meeting adjourned, three members won door prizes which were provided from the club's equipment inventory: N4DB Radio Shack audio filter K8KJ Triplett VOM and three books K9RV Kantronics UTU-XT Respectfully submitted, Rob Stampfli/KD8WK CRES-ARC Secretary
