The CRES Amateur Radio Club held its fourth-quarter general meeting of the 2006 calendar year at the Parkview Presbyterian Church on 06 December 2006. Those in attendance were: President Bill Erwin/N9CX, Secretary/Treasurer Rob Stampfli/KD8WK, Past President Tricia Kovacs/ KC8HIH, VE Liaison Art Grandle/KD8ZG, and members and W3CRZ, WA8LBZ, WD8EBS, K8KJ, K8LE, KC8DJR, K8ON, N4DLR, N4HAI, K8RSP, W8AGS, K8TX, and K8LJ. Bill Erwin called the business portion of the meeting to order promptly at 7:00 PM. Our newest member, Tom Foy, N4HAI, was recognized. The Secretary's Report from the third quarter general meeting was approved. The Treasurer reported the club has $135.77 in our cash account plus $160 in dues collected this evening, $1661.95 in our Telhio checking/savings accounts, and $5523.30 in CDs. The repeater committee reported the repeater was working fine and nothing had been done to it since the last meeting. Art Grandle reported that the VE team had conducted an exam the previous Saturday (Dec 2). Ten VE examiners were present to administer 4 exams, and all examinees passed, with three acquiring their Tech license, and the fourth upgrading to Extra class. Al Mecozzi reported for the nominations committee that the committee had a proposed slate of officers for the coming year. There was no old business to discuss. Al Mecozzi related a story about a PSK-31 contact he had made with a South Korean ham. In return, he had received several gifts, including a bamboo knickknack which he brought to display in the hopes someone could identify its purpose, but no one could. Tricia Kovacs inquired about rumors we might be able to acquire the Club's tower and antennas left on Bldg 3. Art indicated he had been in contact with a John Lawson (not W8AGS) from Mt. Carmel about this and we might be able to salvage the tower and antenna. Contrary to reports that Bldg 3 would be razed, it now appears Mt. Carmel will occupy this section for at least the near term. Bob Cartwright reported that we had garnered quite a respectable showing in this year's Field Day contest. This was our first year operating as class 3A, and we placed between 1/4 and 1/3 of the 3A listings. Rob Stampfli reported that Carl Yaffey, the CQ-WE National Coordinator, had received most of the CQ-WE results, and we will be publishing the interim list soon (to be updated through the months of December and January). On the whole, the scores generally look commensurate to or higher than last year's. Next nominations were held. The following names were placed in nomination by the committee: President: Bill Erwin/N9CX Vice President: Dave Brown/K8AX Sec/Treas: Rob Stampfli/KD8WK Equipment Mgr: Stu Steenburgh/KB8DEO There were no nominations from the floor. Dan Merrick motioned and Art seconded that the slate be declared elected by acclimation. Bill explained a motion was not strictly necessary, but since it had been placed, it would be put to the vote, and the motion passed unanimously. Bill expressed that he had been quite pleased with the club and thought we had had a great year. The door prizes were awarded by a random drawing, and won by KD8ZG, N4HAI, WA8LBZ, and K8LJ. The prizes had been donated by Gordon Lashley. The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 PM, after which Bob Kenyon and Dave Woolf gave a interesting talk on antenna modeling programs and demonstrated the EZNEC program on several antenna designs that had been submitted by the members. Respectfully submitted, Rob Stampfli/KD8WK
