The CRES Amateur Radio Club held a general membership meeting on Tuesday, 24 June 2008, at the New Albany library. The following members were in attendance: President Bill Erwin/N9CX, Vice President Dave Brown/K8AX, Secretary Treasurer Rob Stampfli/KD8WK, members WA8LBZ, N4DB, KD8HJA, KC8ALQ, K8TX, KC8DJR, K8LJ, K8RSP, WA8PGE, K8LE, and W3CRZ, and guests Steven Pezzi/K8PEZ and Doug Gibbs/W8NFT, and Larry Foster/K8BBQ. The meeting was called to order by President Bill Erwin at 7:00 PM. Treasurer's Report: Rob reported we have $1993.94 in Telhio checking and savings plus a check for $170 for the remainder of the sale of tower equipment, $199.62 in our cash account, and 4 CDs worth $6350. One of the CDs is coming due, and we will roll it, plus some additional cash into two CDs such that we will have a laddered set for the next five years. With the close of the meeting tonight, Rob will remove any members from the roster who have not yet paid their 2008 dues. Dave Woolf reported on the repeater. The machine is currently putting out only about 12 watts. Dave is working on fixing an amp for the transmitter in order to bring it back to its nominal power out. WA8LBZ asked about the reason we sometimes hear multiple reset beeps. Dave could not say, except to point out that it could be signals intended for other machines bleeding into ours. The VE team will be conducting its next Volunteer Examiner session at the Columbus Ham-OH-Rama hamfest on Sat, 2 August. K8TX has been in contact with the hamfest organizers and KD8ZG is in the loop on this. There was no old business. K8AX announced there were two programs being planned for the coming months. On Tuesday, 19 August, we will have a program on repairing antique radios. Also, Dave has been in contact with the WLW and VOA folks at their sites near King's Island, with the intent of putting together a day-tour of their facilities and museum for sometime in the fall. The meeting was adjourned at 7:20 PM. Afterwards, Bob Cartwright conducted a Field Day planning meeting. Highlights: + Need help with setup starting 10AM Saturday morning + Talk in on 146.43 + Bob's cell phone is 614 572 4288 and he will have it on for the duration of the contest if you need to contact him. + Enter Infirmary Mound park and follow directions to the horse arena to get to our site. + After hours access is via the service entrance. + No chairs will be provided (except at the operator's positions) so bring your own. + No alcohol or dogs not on leash in the park. + Contact Bill Erwin if you wish to pre-signup for an operator's or logger's timeslot. A signup will be posted at the site. Anyone can step in if no operator has been designated or no one is present. + The picnic will be at 6 PM Saturday evening. Food will be provided by the club, but we can use salads and desserts. If you plan to bring something, coordinate it with KC8HIH. + If you are interested in Satellite communication, the best times will be Saturday evening 8:00 - Midnight, and Sunday morning, 10:00 - Noon. K8LJ gave an interesting slide show on Field Day he put together for another club he belongs to. The members completed the evening with a show-and-tell and slide show of antenna projects they had been working on. It seems we have lots of resourceful members in the club. Respectfully submitted, Rob Stampfli/KD8WK CRES-ARC Secretary/Treasurer
