The CRES Amateur Radio Club held its third general membership meeting of the year on Wednesday, 24 June 2009, at the New Albany library. The following members and guests were in attendance: Bill Erwin / N9CX (President) Bob Kenyon / K8LJ (Vice President) Rob Stampfli / KD8WK (Secretary) Bob Cartwright / W3CRZ (Treasurer) Dave Woolf / K8RSP (Station Trustee) Art Grandle / KD8ZG (VE Liaison) Al Mecozzi / WA8LBZ Dave Brown / K8AX Steven Katz / N8WL Fred Saas / WA8PGE David Jeffords / K8ON Tricia Kovacs / KC8HIH Weldon Mathews / K8NQ Duane Vanone (guest) The meeting was called to order by President Bill Erwin at 7:20 PM. The minutes from the April meeting were approved. Bob Cartwright gave the Treasurer's report: $ 9,143.51 in Telhio $ 20.00 in cash ---------- $ 9,163.51 Total We now have 40 members. Dave Woolf reported that the repeater was operating OK. There have been some reports of transmit power falling off after the transmitter has been active for a while, and Dave is monitoring that situation. Art Grandle reported that our next VE exams will be at the Columbus Ham-OH-Rama hamfest on August 1. Because apparently some VEs not associated with our team have been flashing their badges to get into the hamfest for free, Art has been given 10 tickets to the hamfest, which he will hand out at the breakfast meeting prior to the exam session, and a VE badge will not be honored for entrance to the event. Rob Stampfli again broached the subject of the Club serving as the host location for the CQ-WE contest this November. This will be the event's 50th anniversary, and Rob thought that since our club played a integral role in the event's early history, we should have the first option of hosting it on this special occasion. Rob asked for a show of hands of those who would be willing to help with host responsibilities, which mainly consist of issuing certificates of participation. The majority of the membership agreed to assist, so Rob indicated he would declare the Club this year's official host of the 2009 CQ-WE Contest. Dave Brown was recognized for being another year older today. Bob Kenyon asked whether the club should reserve the shelter we used for the OSPOTA event at Buckeye Lake last year once again for this year's event, which will be held on September 12. It was agreed we should do so, and Bob agreed to handle the reservations. The meeting was adjourned at 7:30, after which Steve Katz and Bob Kenyon gave quite an interesting talk on "Field Day Made Easy", with pictures from last year's event interspersed on the slides.
