The CRES Amateur Radio Club held its third general membership meeting of the year on Tuesday, 15 June 2010, at the Reynoldsburg branch of the Columbus Public Library. The following members and guests were in attendance: K8RSP Dave Woolf - President K8LJ Bob Kenyon - Vice President KD8WK Rob Stampfli - Secretary W3CRZ Bob Cartwright - Treasurer KD8ZG Art Grandle - VE Liaison KD8HJA Tate Antrim - Internet Manager N9CX Bill Erwin - Past President WA8LBZ Al Mecozzi K8PEZ Steven Pezzi KC8DJR George Kinder N4DLR George Foy W8NFT Doug Gibbs K8AX Dave Brown N8WL Steven Katz K8RSP called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. No one had any corrections for the past meeting's minutes. W3CRZ gave the Treasurer's report. The Club has $9,280.06 in its various accounts at Telhio. We currently have 42 members. K8RSP gave an update on our Field Day plans. Unfortunately, we have had less interest than in past years due to member medical issues and travel plans. We will have a phone and CW station, and Dave hopes to have a working Satellite station as well. An initial antenna set-up will take place on Friday at 2 PM so that we don't have as much to accomplish on Saturday morning. No one yet has stepped forward to coordinate the picnic, and if nobody does so, the club will fall back to providing the soft drinks and let everyone fare for themselves on other food items. K8LJ reported that the CQ-WE certificates are coming along. His wife has been busy, but he expects to have a sample to share with the club soon. KD8ZG reported that he met with the Aladdin Shrine hamfest folks and worked out the details for conducting VE exams. The first 8 volunteers will receive tickets for the hamfest. The rest will have to pay to get in. Art also worked out a mechanism for handling those applicants who only want to take the VE exams and do not want to attend the hamfest. This will be the first VE exams we will conduct under the auspices of the Laurel VEC. Art and Dave will do a dry run with all the tests and paperwork to ensure the test seeion itself goes smoothly. The meeting was adjourned at 7:15 PM, after which Steve Katz/N8WL gave a presentation/demonstration of the evolution of the 2-meter band, including a test on how well we knew our handhelds. Dave Woolf/K8RSP then gave a talk/demo of the Mini VNA Pro circuit analyzer he bought at Dayton this year. Respectfully submitted, Rob Stampfli / KD8WK CRES-ARC Secretary
