The Executive Committee of the CRES Amateur Radio Club met at 6:00 PM on Thursday 03 February 2011 at the New Albany branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library. Those present were: President Dave Woolf/K8RSP, Vice President Bob Kenyon/K8LJ, Secretary Rob Stampfli/KD8WK, Past President Bill Erwin/N9CX, and VE Liaison Art Grandle/KD8ZG. The first order of business was to approve the Directors for the 2011 calendar year. K8RSP indicated that all the directors had agreed to continue in their current role: Trustee: K8RSP Repeater Chair: WD8EBS Contest Coordinator: Open VE Liaison: KD8ZG Internet Manager: KD8HJA KD8WK moved that the slate be approved by acclimation. Motion carried. KD8WK brought up an old issue which was tabled at our last excomm meeting: Whether to pursue issuing certificates to club members for having made ham radio contacts with a certain number of other club members. This was originally proposed as a way to get club members to get out and meet and chat with one another, and to perhaps stimulate a renewed interest in operating. Rob presented samples from the 1970s when the club had had such a program. The issue basically died for the lack of anyone volunteering to produce a suitable certificate. The committee next addressed the issue of the open Contest Coordinator position. N9CX suggested unloading the position, since the consensus view was that it required too much work for a single person. K8RSP asked KD8WK if doing this would require a change to the Constitution. Answer: It technically would require a change to our Bylaws, since that is where the duties are spelled out, but if the CC were thought of as a committee chair who could unload responsibilities through delegation, then probably no change would be required. The committee decided to table the matter until they could ask W3CRZ for his recommendations. KD8WK cautioned that if we want to purchase a flea market space at the Dayton Hamvention we need to act now. This issue will be discussed at tonight's general meeting so that we can assess what the membership thinks. The Executive Committee meeting was adjourned at 6:35 PM. Respectfully submitted, Rob Stampfli / KD8WK CRES-ARC Secretary
