The CRES Amateur Radio Club held its sixth and final general membership meeting of the year on Thursday, 15 December 2011, at the New Albany branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library. The following members and guests were in attendance: K8RSP Dave Woolf - President K8LJ Bob Kenyon - Vice President KD8WK Rob Stampfli - Secretary W3CRZ Bob Cartwright - Treasurer KD8ZG Art Grandle - VE Liaison N4DLR George Foy N4OTR Lois Foy W8AGS John Lawson WA8PGE Fred Saas W8NFT Doug Gibbs K8ON David Jeffords KC8HIH Tricia Kovacs KD8DZ Mike Mickelson N8WL Steve Katz K8NQ Weldon Mathews WA8LBZ Al Mecozzi K8AX Dave Brown KD8OQA Marty Hohl KD8LUW Duane Vanone K8HTT Larry Reynolds W8HPL Jim Feasel W8DMR Bill Parker K8RSP called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Guests Jim Feasel, W8HPL, and Lois Foy, N4DLR, (George's XYL) introduced themselves. It was determined no minutes were taken of the October 20th meeting. W3CRZ reported that, as of tonight, the club has 45 members. We have $9312.05 in our treasury. Bob also reported we were the top Ohio "3A" station in this year's Field Day contest. We also had 11 participants in the 2011 CQ-WE contest, with KD8WK taking the top location score. KD8ZG reported on VE exam session held on December 3rd. There were 10 candidates, and a few mix-ups. One candidate was given an incomplete exam, but passed it anyway by scoring over the minimum number correct even when all the questions he did not receive were counted as wrong. Also, the posting of the test results to Mark Erbaugh got stuck in a USPS infinite loop between Columbus and Toledo until Art intervened. The next CRES VE exams will be in April, most likely the first Saturday (April 7th). K8RSP and K8LJ reported the noise on the repeater comes and goes, but the machine remains usable. K8RSP reported he had received no inquiries or nominations for tonight's election of our 2012 officers, but that he had asked all four officers and all had agreed to continue in that roll for 2012. No nominations were forthcoming from the floor. A vote to re-elect these officers by acclimation was taken and passed: President: Dave Woolf, K8RSP Vice President: Bob Kenyon, K8LJ Secretary: Rob Stampfli, KD8WK Treasurer: Bob Cartwright, W3CRZ K8AX expressed that we have a good thing going with the club and asked folks to help out by volunteering. The workload is not bad if everyone chips in a little. The meeting was adjourned at 7:11 PM, after which Bill Parker, W8DMR, gave an interesting talk about the iconic discoverers of the laws of our basic electrical phenomena.
