The CRES Amateur Radio Club held its third general membership meeting of the year on Thursday, 19 June 2012, at the New Albany branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library. Art reported the club's next VE exam session was moved from August 4th to August 11th due to a date change for the Columbus Ham-OH-Rama hamfest. The exams will begin at 8 AM. Breakfast will still be at 7 AM. Guest John Tipka/W8UL introduced himself. He has been a ham since the 1950s, has a passion for RTTY, lives in Etna at Summit and SR 40, and has held the positions of Licking Co. EC, District EC for Central Ohio, and Section Traffic Manager. He knew Wilbur Wollerman and Denny Roe, and is friends with K8LJ, N8WL (was Steve's mentor), and Russ Payne. John joined the club this evening. Guest Carl Faulstich/KD8QVP also introduced himself. A new ham, he is interested in the club and in attending our Field Day event this weekend. Dave Woolf reported he is watching the repeater's sensitivity problems and may readjust the duplexers after Field Day. Bob Cartwright reported the club has 39 members and $9684.95 in the bank. The minutes from the last meeting were approved. The meeting was adjourned at 7:11 PM, after which Al Mecozzi/WA8LBZ gave a presentation including pictures from last years Field Day event, Bob Kenyon/K8LJ showed the video "The Last Big Field Day", and Steve Katz/N8WL tied up some last minute Field Day plans.
