The CRES Amateur Radio Club held its fourth general membership meeting of the year on Thursday, 16 August 2012, at Universal Amateur Radio on Americana Parkway in Reynoldsburg. Dave thanked Steve Katz for setting up tonight's meeting. The minutes from the previous meeting were accepted. The Treasurer reported that as of tonight we have 45 dues-paying members and $9614.96 in our treasury. Art Grandle reported that the VE team administered exams to 32 candidates at the Columbus hamfest on 11 August, with 28 either successfully upgrading or acquiring their ham radio license. Dave Woolf reported the repeater seems to be doing OK. He has heard of no significant problems recently. Dave reported that the North Bank shelter at Buckeye Lake has been reserved for our club on 8 September for the OSPOTA contest. The club will provide burgers, hot dogs, and refreshments for an afternoon cookout. More information will be forthcoming. Our next meeting will be Thursday, 18 October, at the New Albany branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library. The meeting was adjourned at 7:05 PM, after which Bob Kenyon introduced Fred Osterman / N8EKU, Ron Rateno / W9WL, and Craig Blaine / WB2FVE. Fred, the President of Universal, spoke about the history and direction of the company, the markets they serve, their website, and their feline residents. He noted that this was Universal's 70th anniversary, the company having been founded in 1942.
