The CRES Amateur Radio Club held its sixth general membership meeting of the year on Thursday, 06 December 2012, at the New Albany branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library. The following members and guests were present: K8RSP Dave Woolf -President K8LJ Bob Kenyon - Vice President KD8WK Rob Stampfli - Secretary W3CRZ Bob Cartwright - Treasurer KD8ZG Art Grandle - VE Liaison KD8RTP John Buck KD8TFR Tony Vitali N8WL Steve Katz K8NQ Weldon Mathews KD8DZ Mike Mickelson W8UL John Tipka KB8PV Madhu Asar W8REW Ed Weston W8NFT Doug Gibbs WA8LBZ Al Mecozzi N9CX Bill Erwin N4DLR George Foy N4HAI Tom Foy K8AX Dave Brown KD8OQA Marty Hohl KD8TQE Rick McCracken-Bennett KB8KPJ Jim Morton K8ON David Jeffords Ben Razidlo (father) Brendan Razidlo (son) K8RSP called the meeting to order promptly at 7 PM. The minutes of the October 18th meeting were approved. W3CRZ reported the club currently has $9455.85 in the treasury, up from $9372.49 at the beginning of the year. There are 46 paid members, and 22 have already paid their 2013 dues. New attendees KD8TFR, KD8TQE (both of whom earned their license at our last VE exam session), and Ben Razidlo (and son Brendan) introduced themselves. KD8ZG reported there were 10 applicants at the last VE exam session held at Parkview Presbyterian Church this past Saturday. All 10 passed at least one exam element. The next CRES-VE exam session will be held in April. We are in the process of installing an Echolink transceiver and internet connection at Tate Antrim / WD8TA's house. Dick Leffler / W8RLL has generously donated a transceiver and we have acquired the rest of the hardware. This will allow out-of-town members to get on the Sunday net and use the machine remotely. The exact details of when the Echolink system will be available are still being worked out. In a response to a question by KD8WK, K8LJ described how to use the Netlogger software which K8LJ had been utilizing for the Sunday nets. Basically, you must acquire the netlogger program (free from the Internet from www.netlogger.org) and run it on a windows box in order to get an official net check-in list. The software also allows IMing among the online participants. K8RSP introduced the nominations committee, which consisted of KD8ZG, N8WL, and W3CRZ. The committee reported that they had secured the following candidates for the four elected positions for the 2013 calendar year: President: Bob Kenyon / K8LJ Vice President: Dave Brown / K8AX Secretary: Rob Stampfli / KD8WK Treasurer: Bob Cartwright / W3CRZ No names were placed in nomination from the floor, and the above slate was elected by unanimous vote. K8AX solicited the input of the membership for program topics for the coming year. N8WL extended an invite to anyone interested in serving on the Program Committee, which consists of K8AX, N8WL, and WA8LBZ. KD8ZG said he has several 200 ft (approx) sections of 5/8" hardline that belong to the club and "will be going cheap", as he no longer wishes to store them at his house. Some have fittings. K8LJ thanked the program committee for their help in the past year, and thanked K8RSP and the current officers for their past service. He handed out two cards, a large one and a small one. On the larger card, he had the members draw a line down the middle and list personal goals for 2013 on one side and any feedback for the club, positive or negative, along with comments on the other. On the smaller card, he requested people write down their personal goals so that they had their own copy. K8LJ will share the anonymized information he received with the club at a future date. The meeting was adjourned at 7:25 PM. K8LJ and KD8DZ then gave a tutorial on antennas, with emphasis on modeling, based on questions previously submitted by club members. Respectfully submitted, Rob Stampfli / KD8WK CRES-ARC Secretary
