The CRES Amateur Radio Club held its sixth and final general membership meeting of the year on Thursday, 17 December 2015, at the New Albany branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library. The following members and guests were present: K8LJ Bob Kenyon - President N4HAI Tom Foy - Vice President KD8WK Rob Stampfli - Secretary W3CRZ Bob Cartwright - Treasurer KD8ZG Art Grandle - VE Liaison K8RSP Dave Woolf - Immediate Past President W8UL John Tipka N8FWY Chris Pezzutti KE8AVX Allen Howe AC8TZ Greg Mason WD8JLP Mike Neal KD8DZ Mike Mickelson KD8OQA Martin Hohl WB8YTZ Joe Coffman WA8LBZ Al Mecozzi WB8ZTP Mark Pogany KM4ADY Douglas Olivo W8NFT Doug Gibbs N8WL Steve Katz K8AX Dave Brown KE8CRM Russell Ward KE8CRL Alicia Ward K8NU Carl Yaffey N8RFT Jim Patterson WD8EBS Mike Stansbery N9CX Bill Erwin KD8RTP John Buck N4DLR George Foy President K8LJ called the meeting to order promptly at 6:45 PM. Several guests introduced themselves, including WD8JLP, KE8AVX, AC8TZ, N8RFT, KE8CRL, and KE8CRN. The Secretary's report from the October 2015 meeting was accepted. The Treasurer reported the club currently has $7053.94 in its coffers and 55 paid members. KD8ZG reported the VE team conducted an exam session at 9:00 AM on Saturday, December 5th, at the Parkview Presbyterian Church in Reynoldsburg. The thirteen candidates all passed at least one element for an upgrade. The next CRES VE session will be held in April, 2016. K8RSP reported that the repeater was locked up for several days surrounding the Thanksgiving holiday. (The holiday closure delayed our getting access to the repeater to reset it.) The repeater apparently fixed itself as Dave was en route to power cycle it the following Monday. The problem appeared to be that the CAT-1000 controller did not reboot sanely after a short power glitch. This has happened to us once before, about 10 years ago, and other CAT-1000 users have complained about this type of lock-up as well. K8LJ reported that the Echolink interface to the repeater seems to be generally working well. The most prevalent complaint has been low audio. KD8WK noted that the w8zpf.net domain name seems to have supplanted the official w8zpf.org domain name. W8zpf.org is coming up for renewal in early February and he wondered if the club desired to retain it. KD8ZG motions, and K8NU seconds, that the w8zpf.org name be renewed. Motion carries. K8AX conducted the 2016 elections, explaining that there are four elected positions: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Dave indicated all the current officers were willing to continue in their capacities, but would be more than willing to turn the position over to new blood if there was any interest. He solicited nominations from the floor and received none. The current slate of officers were re-elected by acclimation: --- 2016 Officers --- President Bob Kenyon, K8LJ Vice President Tom Foy, N4HAI Secretary Rob Stampfli, KD8WK Treasurer Bob Cartwright, W3CRZ The meeting was adjourned at 7:15 PM, after which N4HAI and K8RSP gave talks on the status and interworkings of our new Yaesu Fusion repeaters and the new controller which is being prepared for them. Dave hopes to have the new repeater installed and up and running around the time of the next Dayton Hamvention. Respectfully submitted, Rob Stampfli CRES-ARC Secretary
