The CRES ARC held its sixth and final meeting of the year on Thursday, 15 December 2016, at the New Albany branch of the Columbus Public Library. The meeting was called to order by President K8LJ at 6:45 pm. The following people were present: K8LJ Bob Kenyon President KD8WK Rob Stampfli Secretary W3CRZ Bob Cartwright Treasurer KD8ZG Art Grandle VE Liaison KD8TA Tate Antrim Webmaster KE8FPD Larry Howell KE8CRM Russell Ward K8AX Dave Brown KD8DZ Mike Mickelson K8NQ Weldon Mathews WD8JLP Mike Neal K8NU Carl Yaffey K8RSP Dave Woolf WA8LBZ Al Mecozzi N9CX Bill Erwin N4DLR George Foy W8JPF Joe Fischer K8HTC Larry Feth N8FWY Chris Pezzutti W9WSW Scott Westerman III KE8FPD introduced himself: A renewed ham, Larry was originally licensed as WA8QAJ but let his license lapse in the 1970s. He attended our club's VE session earlier in the month, earning a General class license and joining our Amateur ranks once again. The Secretary's report from our October meeting, which has been posted online, was approved. The Treasurer reported the club has total of $7130.99 in the bank and currently has 48 paid members. K8LJ reminded the regular attendees who have not paid their dues that we'd still like to have them as paid members. KD8ZG reported that the VE team had ten candidates at their December session, held on the 3rd. Four earned a Tech license, three obtained a General and 2 upgraded to Extra. One candidate did not pass the Tech exam. Our team's next exam will be held in April, probably on the first Saturday of the month. K8RSP said the repeater has been behaving itself. One problem, believed to have been caused by external interference, has been absent recently. Dave is still working to get all the kinks out of the Fusion repeater we are building to replace our existing machine. K8LJ announced Echolink also seems to be doing well of late. In Old Business, K8LJ reported he had reserved the Infirmary Mound Park track and barn area for our 2017 club Field Day exercise. We do not have to give them a down-payment until next year. He also encouraged everyone to operate or log in the contest, even if only for a little while. The meeting was adjourned at 7 PM, after which guest Scott Westerman III, W9WSW, gave an interesting and entertaining talk on using Social Media to highlight ham radio. Scott chairs the ARRL Public Relations Committee and in addition to championing the use of Social Media, is pursuing how to revitalize school ham clubs. Respectfully submitted, Rob Stampfli, KD8WK CRES-ARC Secretary
